In August we explained how to get the latest 3 user version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 for just $26 (that offer is still available) but this bargain is for our UK readers.
As we revealed when it was first released, if you plan to buy the latest (2012) version of the excellent Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) suite you can save a lot by utilizing the fact that it is free to upgrade to a new version. Therefore it makes sense to buy the cheaper 2011 version and use the license from it.
KIS 2012 Pricing – For pricing we will compare the 3 user/1 year license version which is the most popular. On Kasperky’s UK site, KIS 2012 is available for download at £49.99 – but KIS 2011 is now available at Amazon for just £10.99 with free delivery.
But I Wanted 2012? If you buy the KIS 2011 version you obtain the 3 user/1 year license key code with it. Instead of installing it, download and install the 30 day trial of KIS 2012 from Kaspersky’s website instead.
You can use this 2012 trial version for up to 30 days – before it expires just activate it with the license key code from the 2011 version that you bought and the trial will become the full commercial version valid for 1 year. You would follow this same process on each computer you want to install it on. There are several benefits to doing it this way:
- You can get the 2012 version for just £10.99
- You save £38 compared to buying it from Kaspersky – that’s 78% off!
- You get an extra month on top of the 1 year license.
- You do not have to install KIS 2011 and then uninstall it before installing the 2012 version (uninstalling and upgrading antivirus software takes time and can lead to problems if the process does not work perfectly).
In our latest review of 25 antivirus programs, KIS 2012 was one of the highest rated performers, as was the previous version.
This price may not be around for long as the older stocks of KIS 2011 are gradually run down – and it’s pretty rare to find computing goods much cheaper in the UK than the US – so fill your boots!
