Quicker Browsing Of Web Photo Galleries And Lists

Ever read one of those ‘top fifty’ photo galleries or lists where every item is on a different page? You can spend more time clicking ‘Next’ and waiting than actually reading anything.

PageZipper is a free bookmarklet which automatically merges all the ‘Next’ pages into one, so you can skip directly to the stuff you want.

PageZipper – The bookmarklet is particularly suitable for Internet Explorer but can be used on any web browser. However, users of Firefox or Chrome may prefer to use the free Firefox and Chrome PageZipper extensions instead.

The bookmarklet is fairly self explanatory:

  • As you scroll to the bottom of a page, it automatically adds the next page to the bottom of the page you’re on.
  • Clicking the arrow in the toolbar will skip you directly to the top of the next page.
  • On image galleries, clicking the arrow will skip you directly to the next image in the gallery.
  • PageZipper can automatically resize images in photo galleries to fit your browser window – so you always see the entire image without having to scroll.

To install the bookmarklet and for more info see the PageZipper website here. This is useful if you just want to try it out in any web browser – you can just delete the bookmarklet afterwards if you don’t like it or prefer to use one of the add-ons below.

The Firefox add-on is available from Mozilla add-ons here. The Chrome extension is available from Chrome Web Store here.

Other Software From The Developers

The developers of PageZipper also produce PrintWhatYouLike which I reviewed last month – it’s a helpful way to save ink and paper when printing webpages and, like PageZipper, uses a bookmarklet or browser extension.

Conclusion

PageZipper is a useful tool for easy viewing of those increasingly popular ‘top 50’ galleries and lists. I also like the way that it can resize pictures to fit the browser window.

The bookmarklet is a simple way to test the program before deciding to install the extension.
